Terms of service

Last updated 3 October 2026. Written in plain language on purpose. Where a word has a legal meaning, we say so.

These terms are the agreement between Koneza and the business that registers for Deyn. Ticking the box at registration means the person ticking it has the authority to accept them for that business.

1. Who we are and what Deyn is

Deyn is an online record-keeping service for lending businesses, provided by Koneza ("we", "us"). It keeps records of clients, loans, payments and messages, and sends reminders on your behalf. Deyn is a tool. It does not lend money, hold money, or give legal or financial advice.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and have authority to act for the business you register.
  • We review every registration and may decline one without giving a reason.
  • You are responsible for everyone you add as a user and for what they do in your account.
  • Keep passwords private. Tell us at once if you think an account has been misused.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Lending is regulated differently in each country. You must hold any licence your country requires and follow its rules on interest, fees, collection and record keeping. Deyn does not check this for you.
  • Only enter details of clients who have agreed to be your clients and to receive messages from you. See the messaging policy.
  • Enter accurate records. Deyn shows what you enter. We are not responsible for disputes that arise from wrong entries.
  • Use Deyn only for lawful lending. The acceptable use policy lists what is not allowed.

4. Fees and payment

  • Packages are priced monthly in US dollars as shown at registration and on your billing page. Prices can change; we give 30 days' notice by email.
  • Invoices are due 14 days after issue. Two weeks after the due date the account becomes read-only. A month later it is suspended. Payment restores access and no records are lost.
  • Extra users beyond your package are billed when added and with each monthly invoice while active. SMS beyond the free allowance is sold in bundles that do not expire.
  • Fees are not refundable except where the law requires it.

5. Messages sent through Deyn

SMS and email are sent through third-party carriers. We pass messages on in good faith but cannot promise delivery, timing or that a number is still in use. Carrier failures are shown on the client page where we are told of them. You are responsible for the content of messages and for having permission to send them.

6. Your data

The records you enter belong to your business. We process them only to provide the service, as described in the privacy notice and the data protection notice. You can export statements at any time. If your account is closed, you may ask for a full export within 30 days; after the retention period we delete the data.

7. Availability

We aim for Deyn to be available at all times but cannot promise it. We may take it offline briefly for maintenance and will try to do so at quiet hours. We are not liable for loss caused by downtime, carrier failures or events outside our control.

8. What we are not liable for

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost business or indirect loss arising from use of Deyn. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for anything that cannot be limited by law.

9. Ending the agreement

  • You can stop at any time by not renewing. Access continues to the end of the paid period.
  • We can suspend or end an account for unpaid fees, breach of these terms or the acceptable use policy, or where the law requires. We will tell you why unless we are not allowed to.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will email account admins at least 14 days before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use Deyn after that date means you accept the new terms.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. We will always try to settle a disagreement by talking first. Write to us at dms@koneza.com.
